OptionList query

I see from previous entries on this board that using an 'ORDER BY' clause in the OPTIONLIST statement is wrong. However, I find that my optionlists are unsorted unless I use 'ORDER BY' ??

Also I was hoping to use 'AS' in the statement to rename the display but this does not work.

e.g. ('Type' in the table MaterialGroups conflicts with a field of the same name in the current recordset)

<% OPTIONLIST MatlGroup, Type AS xType from MaterialGroups ORDER BY GroupDesc %>
