Database Hosting
OpenDB is a WindowsNT-based host featuring support for databases accessible by standard Microsoft ODBC drivers: SQL Server, MS-Access, FoxPro, Paradox, and dBASE. (Excel is also supported but Excel is not recommended for general database purposes due to limitations in the updating functionality available through ODBC.)With the Basic Service, you can have up to 5 MB of disk space for online databases, HTML files and graphics. You can have you own home page at www.opendb.com/yourname or you can link to your database pages from you existing home page. You also get an e-mail account at opendb.com. You can upload your pages with the MS FrontPage "publishing" extensions, or you can use our HTML-based file manager to upload and edit your files with your MS-IE 4.0 or Netscape browser. (A special plug-in is required for MS-IE 3.x to support HTML file uploading.)
OpenDB supports MS Active Server Pages (ASP) for database interaction and general HTML scripting, and Cold Fusion 3.1 for database applications. Or, you can use ODBiC HTML scripting for quick and easy database interaction.
Using ODBiC or ASP, you can create fully customized e-mail forms (HTML forms that are e-mailed to you). You can also create a customized Guest Book. We will provide you with easily-modifiable ODBiC templates for these functions.
If you need to use custom CGI programs for your application, an extra setup fee of $25 applies, and we will need to review the source code before approval. This is necessary to protect the security of other users and system integrity. (You will receive a signed guarantee that we will never divulge or make use of your programming, and that we will destroy our copy of the source code after approval. We will sign any standard non-disclosure agreements required by your company.)
